Caption Competition; And the Winner is…

Right then, the hour is upon us, the time has come to announce the winner of Viva Rovers‘ second ever competition. We like folk to work for their rewards here at Viva Towers and so having asked you to draw your own interpretation of Steve Brooker for our first comp just over a year ago, we have again strove to get your creative side working with a Caption Competition this time round, all to determine the lucky recipient of a Savile Rogue luxury Cashmere scarf in Rovers colours. ‘Brooker Prize’, Prize Given

Ah, was it not Lady Mary Currie, in her literary guise as Violet Fane, who once said “all good things come to he who waits”. Well, it was either her or Matt Le Blanc in that pointless Tomato Ketchup advert where he left the bottle on top of the bridge. Or Guinness. Anyway, as usual I digress. The point of this post was to announce that seven weeks after winning our ‘Brooker Prize’ competition, Stuart Leyland, was finally presented his prize at the weekend, a coveted Viva Rovers mug. We had hoped to get Steve Brooker to present the award himself, but sadly he wasn’t there. Or perhaps he was and we didn’t recognise him. ‘Brooker Prize’ Competition; And the Winner is…

A week or so ago now, with many a Doncaster fan sat in the corner of their office or bedrrom cradling their knees in their arms and rocking back and forth sobbing “why? why? why?” at the latest Rovers transfer news, we felt it our duty to attempt to lighten the mood. To that end we launched our very first competition, and now we finally get round to announcing the winner. ‘Brooker Prize’ Competition Update

Last Friday, to lighten the mood of general melancholy surrounding Rovers transfer market losses we launched our very first competition. With the club’s official site announcing that forward Steve Brooker was on course to be fit for pre-season after being eternally injured since moving to DN4 we were at a loss to remember just what this near mythical  forward looked like. There had been a reported sighting at Watford in November 2008, but experts could not be drawn on whether this footage was genuine. So we asked for your interpretations of just what this Steve Brooker fella looks like, and offered a Viva Rovers mug to our favourite picture. Here’s the entries we’ve received so far. ‘Brooker Prize’ – The Friday Competition

There was much excited talk on the Doncaster Rovers website this week about a possible return to action early next season for Steve Brooker. But who or what exactly is Steve Brooker? Despite many written records of the Brooker since November 2008 there has only been one reported sighting of him, with a handful of people claiming to have witnessed the striker in the hazy distance, lurking by a far post in Watford. Continue reading
