Red Short Redemption; Rovers Launch New Kit

After a week of website filling with a succession of teasers, Rovers have today officially launched the new home kit for the 2011-12 season. Rovers will continue to wear Nike, via awkwardly named kit partner Just-Sport Pro Club, but have changed to the company’s newer hoop kit template. The good news for traditionalists is that this newer version of the red and white hoops (as modelled here by Viva Rovers‘ favourite Mustapha Dumbuya), is actually hooped, with the horizontal stripes replacing last season’s plain white back.

The major change with the kit though is the return to red shorts and socks after four seasons in the black. It has caused a few arguments/whinges on club messageboards as to which of the two is the ‘traditional’ colour for Rovers’ shorts. Given that the answer according to the excellent Historical Football Kits website appears to be white, the club shouldn’t lose too much sleep over it. The kit is already on sale in the Rovers’ club shop.
