Transfer Rum-o-meter: Surprise Rovers Move in the Mixu

Fresh off the grapevine that snakes past the windows of Viva Towers is the rumour that Rovers are poised to make Mixu Paatelainen their first signing of the close season. According to The Sun the Championship club are ready to offer £250 worth of Premium Bonds for the player, described by many as being a boyhood Rovers fan. Sources close to the player claim that he is satisfied about the prospect of working with Sean O’Driscoll and Richard O’Kelly at the Keepmoat Stadium.

This Rovers related transfer rumour was created using our patent pending Transfer Rum-o-meter, with numbers selected at random by @MikeSFollows. Any relation born to a credible rumour is purely by chance, although should also make you doubt anything you read about transfers for the remainder of the summer. To create your own Transfer Rumour contact us on twitter @vivarovers with five numbers between 1 and 50, in any order.

  1. This transfer Rum-o-meter malarkey. Not sure what the point of it is – certainly isn’t remotely amusing and it is quite a departure from your usually amusing anecdotes.

My suggestion would be to cease this practise immediately before you lose regular readers………………….

  2. The Transfer Rum-o-meter ‘malarkey’ is generating content whilst nothing else is going on in the world of Rovers and at the same time allowing me time to do other things… like find employment.

Most folk seem to be enjoying it Mick so sorry its not to your taste… as a lot of readers have submitted numbers to join in the fun it will be continuing. However having looked at the site this morning, it may be getting a bit repetitive so future Rum-o-meter posts will be staggered every other day rather than daily.

Hopefully thats seen as a reasonable compromise for yourself and those who are enjoying the Rum-o-meter posts.

And besides, without it I wouldn’t have known I was normally writing “amusing anecdotes”

  3. I read most of your stuff on Viva Glen and think the majority is excellent; indeed, I believe that it was I who wrote the phrase… “Above all, it actually looks like someone has made an effort”, which now adorns your home page.

I can live with the Transfer Rum-o-meter thing, although I am not sure that I fully appreciate the concept. Informing us that Mixu Paatelainen, Ryan Giggs and (God forbid) Lewis Guy are about to sign seems to have little comedic value to my eager eyes. This may however be partly contributable to my generally staid and sober(ish) demeanour during the dark summer days known as the close season. These characteristics are normally brought on by my mounting anxiety as Rovers yet again fail to seal any early ‘nerve settling’ signings at the beginning of the close season. As a result I am generally left grasping at every shred of information jettisoned from the media catapult – hence my excited arrival at and subsequent disappointment at the content of the Transfer Rum-o-meter.

For the record I should state that if, within the next 4/6 weeks, we have still to delve into the transfer hotpot, I may be willing to accept Lewis back – if only on a pay as you score arrangement…………………

Keep up the good work Glen…………………
