Regular readers of Viva Rovers (Hello Stu and Barry) will be aware that in recent weeks we have begun to turn this feature over to Rovers’ upcoming opponents. As such we would like to take this opportunity to suggest that the fact this has also corresponded with back to back defeats is merely coincidence. A painful and frustrating coincidence. Therefore, like Nick Clegg, we’re soldiering on in the face of criticism and focussing episode of 107 of the feature on Middlesbrough. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Depending on your age when you think Middlesbrough you are likely to think of one of three teams. The Jack Charlton led Second Division conquerors of the mid 1970s. Brian Robson’s expensively assembled cosmopolitan Boxing Day avoiding relegation side of the mid 1990s.
