Viva Video XCIX

Stick a flake in us, we’re up to episode 99 of our weekly media feature and as much as we’d love to tel you its been a pure upward curve I think we’ve all realised now that we’re fast running out of relevent footage. We’ve stretched credibility again with this week’s offing to bring you a video of the common denominator between Doncaster Rovers and tomorrow’s opponents Sheffield United; one William Sharp.

Whilst on loan at Rovers last season striker Billy Sharp didn’t play in either of the games against his actual employers as Sean O’Driscoll chose to honour a promise rather than take advantage of a contractual gap. But, the forward will feature tomorrow and given how adept he has proved against his other ex-club Scunthorpe, notching three goals in two returns to Glanford Park, he looks likely to prove a significant thorn in the side of the Blades.

Today’s video comes from the spell of form which first brought Sharp into the spotlight as he scored for fun in Scunthorpe’s 2007 promotion push. As the Iron pushed towards the Championship Sharp was in form and was duly invited onto Yorkshire television’s Soccer Night. A natural on the football field it turns out Sharp is not quite as at ease in the television studio a fact reiterated by his comments on Didier Drogba. On a downside this clip does feature Peter Beagrie’s televisual smugness and desperate attempts to claim a hand in every goal ever scored. Some Thursday nights there just weren’t enough objects around the sofa to hurl at the screen.
