The pressure is on for this week’s edition of Viva Video after the unprecedented success of episode sixty-two. It wasn’t that last week’s choice of video – Jamie Coppinger’s hat-trick against Southend – was particularly ground-breaking, or anything new, hell we’ve all seen it ten times over, it’s because it turned out to be something of a premonition. Four days after we celebrated Coppinger’s first hat-trick for the Rovers, he scored his second Doncastrian treble to help see-off Norwich. To add to the eeriness of it all, that first Copps hat-trick was followed in the next game by a significant victory over Leeds United and you don’t need us to tell you who’s heading to the Keepmoat Stadium tonight.
So, having shown the match that pre-empted that Wembley win over Look North’s darlings in last week’s Viva Video, it is only right that today’s episode looks back at that day in London. There are a host of videos of Rovers’ 2008 League One Play-Off Final win, from camcorders pointed at tv sets to jumpy celebratory mobile phone footage filmed from the Wembley seats. And though we could have chosen any of them, we’re nowt if not loyal here at Viva Rovers, so we have elected to remember the last time Rovers and Leeds came head to head through the eyes and video editing equipment of our own Dazza. Enjoy, and let us hope that lightning does strike twice.
