Shush, it’s the summer and the World Cup is on and I can’t be bothered to put more effort into headlines. Ok? Anyway, Rovers continue to move towards something approaching a professional second-tier football club as they today announced that they have signed a new kit deal with Nike. More specifically the club have agreed a deal with Nike’s football partners Just Sport Pro Club which will also see a refurbishment of the club’s shop at the Keepmoat Stadium in the coming weeks.
Managing Director of the poorly named Just Sport Pro Club quickly wrote the words ‘Doncaster Rovers’ into the blank spaces left on their generic ‘new kit deal statement template’, to announce; “We are pleased to welcome Doncaster Rovers into the Nike family, and look forward to developing a close relationship with the Club over the next three seasons. Doncaster Rovers are a club with a fine tradition with passionate supporters and we look forward to delivering them the Nike brand.”
Rovers kit for the new season, though inevitably red and white hooped, will feature two new sponsors in addition to the new manufacturer with One Call Insurance returning to sponsor the shirts they last adorned in the Conference eight years ago and Moss Properties having agreed to sponsor the club’s shorts.
Viva Rovers would also like to take this opportunity to say that we are willing to overlook Nike’s past child labour issues if they elect to provide us with any one of the following four choices as the club’s new away kit. Thanks in advance.
