The new season’s fixtures came out this week, yep already, and thanks to the mythical ‘Fixtures Computer’ Rovers will be away on the opening day of the season again… away on Boxing Day again… and away on the final day of the season… again. And people want more technology in football crazy eh? Still at least we’re in the second tier again. It wasn’t always this way of course.
Rovers play Preston North End away on the opening game of the season, fifteen years ago we were both in the same division too… albeit the bottom one. Preston were on their way out of that division mind, heading in the right direction, and in this clip taken from fondly remembered weekly goal-fest Endsleigh League Extra they put four past Leyton Orient, three courtesy of Andy Saville. Rovers were starting to edge out of the division too, but in a very different direction. There was reason to be cheerful on this clip though, namely a bullet of a Darren Moore header.
Before you watch we are obliged to warn you that this clip does sadly contain repeated images of mid 1990s football strips. Watch with caution.
