Ian Rush said if I was prepared to advertise Carling I’d end up playing Accrington Stanley. Accrington Stanley, who are they?  Why they’re a League Two team from Lancashire, we’ve played them before in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. Of course they are, how silly of me for not remembering. That contrived faux conversation is my way of saying that Doncaster Rovers have been drawn at home to Accrington Stanley in the League Cup 1st round. Yes, it really has been drawn already.

The draw for the 1st round of the competition was both regionalised and seeded, with Rovers one of the higher ranked sides in the Northern Section. The matches will be played in the week commencing on the 8th August so this will be Rovers second competitive fixture of the new season. The full list of 1st round ties are as follows…
