Transfer news for you and not so much an instance of one in one out, but certainly a case of one holding the door open for the other. The big news, and perhaps the most significant is that Rovers have secured the services of the highly talented Jay Emmanuel-Thomas for the remainder of the current campaign. The Arsenal teenager has extended his loan spell, which was due to end this week, until the end of the season. Emmanuel-Thomas, who the official Rovers website acknowledged is “nicknamed JET” (as opposed to initialed) has shown some fantastic skill and ability in his appearances for Rovers thus far, and its hoped that his work ethic will improve to match over the remainder of his spell at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The extension of Emmanuel-Thomas’ loan spell has allowed John Spicer to head south in search of first team football. Though a regular on the bench throughout the season Spicer has struggled to assert himself on the starting line-up and will now join Leyton Orient until the end of April. The midfielder is expected to go straight into the O’s squad for this weekend’s London derby against Brentford.
