So, where would you put Doncaster Rovers in the grand scheme of all things 2009? I don’t mean amongst your own priorities, I mean ultimately, in world events. Take your time. So, where did you pigeon-hole them? If your answer is slap bang in between Kanye West making an arse of himself at an awards show and Barrack Obama making himself at home in the White House then surprisingly you’re right.
The renowned American photo-journalism magazine Life, which now exists solely online, this week showcased their Photos of the Year for 2009. And there amongst these images from around the world, portraits of iconic figures and despatched from across the globe sat our own humble team. Yep, amongst the fifty-one images shown was a picture of Doncaster Rovers, or more specifically the Keepmoat Stadium. The photograph was taken as Doncaster Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur took the field for August’s Carling Cup tie backed by a full-double rainbow arching over the East Stand.
I won’t run the risk of encountering Football Data Co’s fabled ‘intelligence’ by putting the picture on here, but this image along with the other Photos of the Year can be found on the Life website.
