Celebrity Fan Club #6; Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung - once, twice a Rover

I know what you’re thinking, and yes I agree this feature is getting a little strained. However, despite the fact that no-one has clutched at so many straws since Ray Clemence last played Kerplunk we intend to solider on and I pledge to bring all red and white hoop wearing Rovers fans to your attention on a weekly basis from now until the end of time… or we run out of celebs. Probably the latter option to be honest. Anyway, enough excuses, behold celebrity Rovers fan number six, its television presenter and model Alexa Chung.

Of course there is only one obvious explanation for Alexa Chung’s fascination with the Rovers and that is the influence of her dad, Sammy. Born in late 1983 Alexa was at the impresionable age of 11 when her father took over at Belle Vue and so it was inevitable that the Rovers would make an impression on her. Indeed how could a young girl on the cusp of her teenage years not have her head turned by the natural beauty of Gary Brabin or Russ Wilcox? How could she not feel intrigued by the troubled past and unique hair of Jamie Lawrence? And how could any female not be swayed by the physique of Mickey Norbury?

It is these tender meories which make Doncaster Rovers Alexa’s schoolgirl crush, and despite moving onwards and upwards in her career since those days Rovers have remained close to her heart. As the images at the top of the page show she often tries to involve Rovers colours in her television appearances and modelling shots, and in the picture on the left she even opted for a length of short as worn by Colin Cramb circa 1994.

  1. Fwooarr- now that is something I would love to see: Alexa wearing nothing but my beloved Rovers shirt and a cheeky smile!

Ooops, sorry, have I dragged the high-brow site down in to the gutter?

    Matt.
