Whenever Rovers are rumoured to be pursuing a striker you can always guarantee that one name will be brought up, that of Darius Henderson. The reason being Darius hails from these parts and the attraction of a return to his home town club is seen as the selling point. So as Rovers face the club that actually employs Senor Henderson it seems only right that we put forward this gem of a clip for this week’s Viva Video.
I played fleetingly in the same boys team at Rossington as Darius. Potential wasted I guess; oh how the mighty have fallen. And to be honest my career hasn’t exactly soared either. Clichéd jokes aside its always good to see a home town lad making his mark and it is a shame for Rovers that Henderson’s key years in terms of his football development came when our club was on its arse. At the age of eleven though Darius was part of the Rovers set-up, as this week’s video shows. One thing worth noting amongst the crop of would-be Rovers is the variety of shiny replica shirts being sported and not a Doncaster one in site. Thankfully that at least is no longer the case.
