Viva Video IV

The fourth instalment of our weekly video feature looks at Rovers versus Ipswich… sort of. Come Saturday evening we will not be the only folk frustrated and bewildered by Rovers latest performance, thanks to S*y S***ts the whole nation will be able to watch as Doncaster host Ipswich live on the box. Over the past decade Rovers have had an impressive record when featured live on Sky, with just 1 defeats in the past 14 live games stretching back to April 2003. And it is worth noting that the defeat mentioned above was a penalty shoot-out loss to Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Carling Cup.

So, as we pray that the omens are on our side, let us wallow once again in a simpler time. When men were men and when football was played whatever the weather, providing of course you had ‘the enemy of the elements’; an orange ball. So let us look back at another Rovers taking on Ipswich, back in 1978. Ignore the thirty year old injustice in the end graphics, and the frankly haunting appearance of Bobby Gould’s head, as if this were a dream montage from an early 1980s american soap, and wrap up warm as you come with me to Eastville.
