The transfer window may be painted more firmly closed than that of a student bedsit, but that has not stopped a couple of comings and goings from the Rovers squad list. With Sean McDaid suffering a particularly unpleasant dislocated knee-cap and Adam Lockwood no closer to fitness club captain Graeme Lee has been brought back to the Keepmoat to offer some much needed defensive cover. With first team chances limited in the past few weeks since his return to fitness Lee has been on loan at Shrewsbury Town, but has been recalled to Rovers as cover for the injuries to Lockwood, Gordon Greer and Stephen Roberts.
Whilst Graeme Lee returns another on-loan Rover is heading the other way. Anthony Griffith who has spent the season on loan at Blue Square Premier Halifax Town has now put pen to paper in a two year deal at Port Vale. Griffith will join the Valiants as they prepare for life in League Two after relegation this season.
Griffith’s contract with Rovers was up for renewal at the end of this season, but the twenty-one year old has elected to move to Vale Park in the search of first team football. Having made numerous first team appearances as a fresh faced but bloody great big eighteen year old under Dave Penney Griffith has found it hard to break Rovers first team since the arrival of Sean O’Driscoll. A season long loan at the Shay has given Griffith a valuable taste of regular first team football and although three sending offs may have put Halifax off making a more permanent offer Griffith is sure to become a regular fixture at Port Vale
