Not the swift turn around that many were expecting as Rovers match with Leeds is rearranged for April 1st. No doubt on Tuesday 1st April my morning will be spent responding to text messages from those familiar with my fruitless journey to Doncaster on Saturday telling me the game is off. At least this time I will be more or less safe in the knowledge that they will be nothing more than April Fools’ Day wind-ups.
After Saturday’s postponement Rovers are now set for a tricky week post Easter as they face fellow promotion challengers Nottingham Forest and Leeds United in the space of four days; the rearranged match with United coming just days after Forest’s first visit to the Keepmoat Stadium.
Tickets bought for the original fixture will still be valid for this game and with the move to a midweek Tuesday evening fixture there are expected to be further tickets available as many exiles unable to attend a midweek game seek a refund on their original purchase.
Also confirmed this week was the rearranged date for Doncaster’s trip to face Bristol Rovers. With the Pirates’ extended stay in the FA Cup the match has faced numerous delays to its planned early January date. The match will now be played in the week leading up to Bristol Rovers’ FA Cup Quarter Final with West Brom, with Donny travelling to the Memorial Ground on Tuesday 4th March.
