Oh My God, its Kilkenny

Can you feel a draft? That’ll be the transfer window slightly ajar again. And while the fresh air sneaks in Sean O’Driscoll commented on Rovers likely targets on the official website. Around the messageboards there have been strong rumours that Rovers are after Birmingham City’s Neil Kilkenny. The Blues midfielder has been on loan at Oldham Athletic this season, meaning Rovers and their fans have had plenty of opportunity to check out the player. However, with a strong group of players already contesting the midfield slots in Stock, Wellens, Green, Woods, Horlock and Viva Rovers’ own Mark Wilson is there really any need for an additional body?

Speaking to the official website O’Driscoll certainly didn’t refute the speculation. “Neil is a very good player. We have seen plenty of him, as we have faced Oldham four times this season. If he becomes available, he is certainly a player we would be interested in.”

Also an expected target in the transfer window is central defender Matt Mills who featured on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium earlier in the season. Unfortunately a cartilage injury sustained in training saw the defender return to his parent club Manchester City. That injury, which the defender is not expected to recover from until later this month, is however currently holding up any possible transfer approach.
