Rovers defender Sam Hird is to remain on loan for a further month as he remains with League Two Grimsby Town into the new year. Since joining Alan Buckley’s side Hird has made five appearances for the first team, and with Grimsby fighting relegation at the foot of League Two the management of the Lincolnshire side have moved to extend the defender’s stay on the east coast. Sam Hird will now remain at Blundell Park until the 20th January, although Rovers have agreed a 24 hour recall option for the player.
Also, as reported last week on vivarovers.net goalkeeper Ben Smith is also to extend his loan spell by a further month. The goalkeeper has been with League Two Lincoln City since the end of November and has already made an impact on the first team at Sincil Bank.
