Walking Wounded – Injury Update

Arguably the busiest man of Rovers’ backroom staff at current is physio John Dickens. This week he managed to find time between those entering the treatment room’s revolving door to gave the official website an update on the current injuries. Starting in defence; club captain Graeme Lee is still recovering from his recent knee surgery and according to Dickens he is “bang on time”, although is still six weeks away from a return to action.

Sean McDaid was the latest addition to the treatment room this week after suffering a nasty challenge just above the knee against Brighton on Tuesday night. The full back “is responding well to treatment” and should be in training again tomorrow, although its touch and go regarding his availability for Saturday’s trip to Oldham. Fellow full-back Gareth Roberts is certainly set to miss the weekend’s trip over the Pennines as he continues his recovery from a hernia operation. It’s hoped he will return to training next week. Fellow Welsh international Jason Price is already back in training following his hamstring injury, but he is unlikely to be risked this weekend.

Also suffering from knocks are midfield pair Brian Stock and Mark Wilson. Stock has been suffering from a back problem but has been training this week although according to Dickens; “what happens [in Friday’s training session] will dictate his availability for Saturday”. Wilson meanwhile has a sore foot but is ok to continue playing through the pain… what a man! Continuing to provide sponsorship value for money for Viva Rovers
