With Tranmere currently sitting in eighth, a place ahead of Doncaster, in League One this is a match that neither side can really afford to lose as they look to close in on the play-off positions, with a win for either side likely to put them in the top six. For Doncaster, a victory will lift the club not only up the table but also a considerable way away from all the negativity that surounded the side just a month ago.
Doncaster should welcome back Brian Stock, Jason Price and Sean McDaid to the squad for this game with all three having sat out the trip to Grimsby, while James Hayter is likely to start having spent Tuesday night on the bench. Still absent is the mercurial Kevin Horlock, whilst former Tranmere favourite Gareth Roberts is also missing as he recovers from hernia surgery.
The other Rovers have slightly more serious injury concerns, and will be without any defenders on the bench due to injuries and suspensions. Shane Sherriff and Craig Curran are the suspendees, Curran having seen red in last weekend’s FA Cup tie, while Ben Chorley and Steve Davies are major injury doubts. Their are also injury concerns over Carl Tremarco who has a tummy ache, and Chris Shuker who has injured one of his tiny thighs.
